School Meals Ordering System

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to you to give you more details regarding the new online ordering and payments service we have set up for school meals next year.

The school canteen will be open for breakfast, break time snacks and lunches for the duration of the year, however due to the latest government guidance for schools reopening, we are unable to allow students to access the canteen as normal throughout the day.

Where possible, we would encourage students to bring a packed lunch to school, however if your child does require any of the above meal options there is now a new online ordering and payment service. This enables you to order any of the above for your child in advance and these will be delivered to student year group bubbles by school staff.

The menu for school meals (please see document attached) is based on a two week rota and parents are now able to order any items from this menu using the online ordering system at the link below:

This link is also available on the school website at under the Parent’s Tab and by choosing Meal Pre-Ordering Form

Once you have submitted your order, this information is then sent directly through to the school canteen, who will prepare the order for your child(ren). The full cost of each food order will also be shown on the form before this is submitted, so parents will be able to see exactly how much each day/week will cost in advance.

Please note, that in order to offer this service effectively, all food orders should be submitted to the school a week in advance. For example food orders for the week commencing the 7th September 2020 should be submitted by Friday 4th September 2020 at the latest.

In order to pay for the meals and snacks you have chosen, we have added a new section to our ParentMail app which allows you to add the required funds to your child’s school meals account using a debit/credit card. Your child’s daily food cost will then be deducted from their overall balance when they have a school meal by the canteen staff.

Please note, it is of high importance that we continue to have up to date contact details for you, including

  • a home telephone/mobile number
  • email address which you regularly access.

If your contact details have changed, please contact the school office or your child’s Welfare Manager urgently to update your details.

If you require support with setting up the online system, please contact your child’s Welfare Manager, who will be available from 1st September.

If your child usually receives free school meals, then please order their breakfast and lunch using the online ordering system, however you will not be required to add any funds to their account.

If you do not have Internet facilities, please complete the paper based ordering form (attached) and send this to school office along with the correct payment by 1st September 2020, in order for this to be passed to the canteen staff. As per online ordering paper based forms and payment will need to be received one week in advance.

Lastly, Due to the significant amount of changes taking place at the start of next term, we appreciate there may be times when your child forgets their packed lunch or you forget to order food form the canteen. If this happens then please contact the school office or your child’s Welfare Manager as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements for the day.

Year 11 Intervention Support

Dear Parents/Carers,

At Thamesview School we are committed to meeting the needs of all pupils to ensure that they make the best possible progress especially in these unprecedented times. Hence, ensuring Year 11 students are successful in their GCSE studies is a priority for us.

As all students learn and progress at different rates, there may be times when a teacher feels a student may benefit from extra small group support in addition to every day class teaching. This may be because the teacher have assessed the student as not completely reaching their potential and may need ‘a little extra push’ or it may be to ‘catch up’ in a particular area or to recover “lost grounds” due to the recent unprecedented times.

We will therefore hold the following different forms of intervention over the cause of the year.

  • Form time intervention
  • After School subject Intervention
  • PE Withdrawal Intervention
  • Half Term and Easter Holiday intervention

In the event that an after school session is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances we will inform students as soon as possible. Please note however, that there will be no revision sessions scheduled for the last week of each upcoming term to support staff wellbeing.

All intervention sessions are an excellent opportunity for your child to receive further support with a direct focus on making progress within their GCSEs and we strongly recommend that every child attends as many session as possible.

We understand that attending after school sessions is an extra commitment for your child so we have implemented an extra reward system to encourage students to attend and to recognise their hard work and effort in the following ways.

  • All targeted students will receive 10 Positive Points for every intervention session they attend, potentially 50 extra points a week.
  • All targeted students who attended three sessions or more in a row will be rewarded a £10 voucher at the fourth week.
  • Snacks/biscuits for every session held.

As a school, we know the importance of a supportive relationship between the school, parents and students, all working together in order to create the best possible outcomes for the student.
