Hi Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all enjoying the Summer Holidays and are starting to get excited about your child’s next ‘chapter’ in their educational journey with us in September!

Just a reminder of the Lateral Flow Testing for the Year 7’s which will be taking place on Tuesday 31st August.  Year 7’s need to arrive at the relevant time slots below:

There will be a member of staff at the front of the main building directing the students were to go, so please re-assure your child of this.  If you have not yet returned your Data Pack for your child, can you please ask your child to hand it to a member of staff when they come in on 31st August.

Some of you have been asking about the arrangements for school lunches.  Lunches will no longer need to be pre-ordered.  The students can purchase their lunch in person in our canteen area each day.  With regard to adding money onto your child’s dinner card, this will only be able to be carried out via the online payment system, details of how to do this can be found on our website under ‘Parents’ and then under ‘Catering Menu & Online Payments’.  Students are no longer able to bring money into school to add money onto their dinner card.  If your child receives Free School Meals, our main office will automatically receive details of this and this will be noted when your child purchases their breakfast and lunch.  On the Year 7’s first day with us on 3rd September, every Year 7 will receive a free lunch. You will not be able to use the online payments system until the 6th September at the earliest.

I am aware starting secondary school is a big step and can be a little daunting for some children,  I just wanted to reassure you all that the new Year 7’s will have three ‘Transition Days’ to ensure they settle in well into Thamesview; Friday 3rd, Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th September.  During these three days, the Year 7’s will be spending time with their Form Tutor, Form Group, having a tour of the school, going through everything the students need to know before following their timetable from Wednesday 8th September.

Enjoy the rest of the Summer Holidays!

Hi Parents/Carers,

I wanted to say a huge well done the our new Year 7’s who attended our 2021 Summer School!  It was great to meet so many of our new students and it was clear to see they had so much fun taking part in the workshops throughout the week, the Travelling History Museum proved to be a huge favourite along with the Solar Dome and Petaholics where some of the children were handling snakes and other reptiles! Staff enjoyed getting to know the students and I hope all the students are looking forward to joining us in September.

Just a reminder that in September, students need to bring in a reading book everyday along with a pencil case containing, pen, pencil, ruler and colouring pencils.  If you would like to purchase any resources to support your child’s transition into secondary school, I can recommend the two books below, they have some really useful tips which your child may enjoy reading.

Breathe Out – A Creative Guide to Happiness for Teen Minds

Go Big – The Secondary School Survival Guide

Thankyou to the parents who have signed up to join our Friends of Thamesview team I will be in touch with you all in September in order for us to meet in person and share any fundraising ideas.  The Friends of Thamesview Team are very similar to a PTA; if you are interested in joining, just let me know.   Our current members are working together to set up our first ‘Preloved Uniform Sale’; details of which will be uploaded onto our school website soon!

Throughout the Summer holidays I will be updating the Transition News page regularly so please keep checking whenever you can.
