Aims for the Department

  • To provide students with access to a variety of different sports and activities to widen their horizons to a range of sporting pursuits.
  • To develop students understanding relating to Physical Education and Sport
  • To provide an environment in which a student may reach their maximum levels of achievement and understanding.
  • To help each student develop to his or her optimum, an appreciation and enjoyment of physical education as a subject in its own right, so enabling future progression and well-being.
  • To develop independent thinking, teamwork and co-operation between students.

Interactive Learning

All classrooms have either interactive whiteboards and projectors or touchscreen TVs; this helps our teaching staff to engage the students with modern technology in the learning process.

Years 7, 8, 9

11 sports/ activities over the year including traditional sport such as football, athletics netball along with alternative games such as tchukball and lacrosse.

 

 

The structure of topics is the same across Key Stage 3 but the level of work within each group is dependent on the ability of the group and the level of challenge increases each year.

Year 10

Core PE lessons

Variety of sports/ activities including outwitting opponents, net games, accurate replication, performing at maximum levels, exploring or communicating ideas, problem solving and exercising safety and effectively.

 

 

BTEC PE lessons

Unit 1 – External Exam Fitness for Sport and Exercise

Unit 5 – Training for Personal Fitness
